About the Role
As Teacher of English , you will teach across Key Stages 3 and 4 , with the potential to contribute to KS5 depending on experience and timetable. You will deliver a well-sequenced curriculum that develops:
Strong reading comprehension and analytical skills
Confident extended writing through modelling, structure and purposeful practice
Secure vocabulary, grammar and sentence fluency across year groups
Exam confidence through deliberate practice, feedback and clear routines
Students study a range of texts including novels, plays, poetry and non-fiction. Lessons are designed to encourage discussion and interpretation while ensuring students develop the skills needed for GCSE success, including comparison, evaluation and sustained argument.
You will support learners with different starting points, using effective scaffolding where needed while maintaining high expectations and providing stretch and challenge for high attainers.
The English Department

Experience and Qualifications
The successful candidate will:
Hold QTS (or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification)
Have strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature
Deliver engaging, well-structured lessons with high expectations
Use assessment effectively to identify gaps and secure progress
Build positive relationships and maintain a calm, purposeful classroom culture
Work collaboratively within a supportive English team
