Adult Spinal Deformity Fellow
This post is for 12 months and focuses on training in Adult Degenerative Pathologies, including Adult and Transitional Spinal Deformity. Time is allocated for research and teaching. There is no on-call commitment for the successful candidate. However, there will be an opportunity to rotate with neurosurgical colleagues to gain experience in cervicothoracic junction deformity. The post-holder is expected to act as a senior registrar, provide leadership and support for other trainees, and participate in research projects and audits, with support to produce peer-reviewed papers and audits.

The spinal teams at The Walton Centre deal with all aspects of spinal disorders: spinal deformity surgery including anterior and posterior approaches, surgery for spinal tumours, spinal trauma and infections, surgery for congenital spinal disorders, tethered cord and chiari malformations.
All aspects of spinal work are covered, from emergency to elective work.
The purpose of The Walton Centre Spinal Fellowship is to enable a senior trainee with a major interest in developing a career in spinal surgery to have the opportunity to work in close liaison with Neurosurgical and Orthopaedic spinal Consultants who have specific interests in spinal disorders. The post is designed for trainees (orthopaedic or neurosurgical background) who wish to pursue a career in spinal surgery.
