Highway Electrical Surveyor
We are seeking a competent and proactive Highway Electrical Surveyor for a 12-month Fixed Term Contract to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting on-site surveys of electrical assets across the city, collecting detailed asset information, and recording geometry data to support design and planning activities.
Role and responsibilities;
What your role will include:
Conducting comprehensive on-site surveys of highway electrical infrastructure, including street lighting, traffic signals, and associated assets.
- Conduct : Field surveys of highway electrical assets including street lighting, traffic signals, and other associated infrastructure.
- Asset Inspection: Inspecting and recording meticulous asset details such as door types, structural conditions, and identification information.
- Data Capture: Utilising high-quality imagery and precision measurement tools to record asset locations, including height, easting, and northing coordinates.
- Technical Reporting: Recording geometry and physical attributes to inform design parameters and provide accurate data for engineering and planning teams.
- Quality & Accuracy: Ensuring all data collection is performed in strict accordance with company standards, survey procedures, and technical specifications.
- Documentation: Maintaining up-to-date digital records and submitting completed survey reports within specified timelines.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhering to rigorous Health & Safety standards and G39 requirements while working on active highways and within public spaces.
- Collaboration: Working closely with the design and maintenance departments to ensure survey data is integrated effectively into GIS or CAD systems.
Essential criteria

- Experience : Competent in highways or electrical surveying.
- Time Management: Strong organisational skills to manage survey schedules effectively and meet strict reporting deadlines for engineering projects.
- Work Ethic: A self-motivated approach to field work, demonstrating high levels of reliability and a commitment to safety and technical precision.
- Interest: A genuine interest in highway infrastructure and a drive to maintain professional standards, including a willingness to undertake further technical training.
- Skills: High attention to detail and proficiency in using survey instruments, GPS equipment, and digital data collection tools (GIS/CAD familiarity is a plus).
- Qualifications: Must possess a valid G39 qualification and a full UK driver’s license.
