Quantity Surveyor - Groundworks

Your new role:
Our client is seeking a Quantity Surveyor with a strong groundworks contractor background to join their commercial team in Liverpool. You will be responsible for managing the financial and contractual aspects of multiple housing groundworks projects, ensuring cost control, profitability, and compliance across all stages of delivery.
Responsibilities will include:
- Managing the commercial performance of groundworks and infrastructure projects from start to final account
- Preparing and submitting interim valuations, variations, and final accounts
- Procuring and managing subcontractors, including negotiation and payment certification
- Monitoring project costs, budgets, and cash flow forecasts
- Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities
- Liaising with site teams, clients, and external stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery
- Producing regular cost reports and presenting to senior management
- Ensuring compliance with contract terms and company commercial procedures
- Supporting tendering and pre-construction activities where required
What you will need to succeed:
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a groundworks or civil engineering contractor
- Strong understanding of housing infrastructure packages (roads, sewers, drainage, foundations, etc.)
- Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong IT skills, including Excel and relevant commercial software
- Good understanding of standard forms of contract
- Full UK driving licence
- Degree/HND in Quantity Surveying or similar (preferred but not essential)
