Duties and responsibilities
The involves visiting local gyms and community venues to help schedule and capture content, supporting social media posting and content planning, and helping tell the stories behind our work with young people. A journalism student would gain hands-on experience in interviewing, writing short features, capturing quotes, and turning real community work into engaging digital content. The also includes engaging with local businesses and partners to promote Weapons Down Gloves Up and highlight positive stories across our platforms. This is a practical, real-world opportunity to build a portfolio

Skills and experience
Content Creation & Storytelling Skills:

Ability to write short articles, captions, or posts, conduct simple interviews, and turn real-world activity into engaging digital content. Journalism students would apply research, questioning and reporting skills in a practical setting.

Digital & Social Media Skills:

Experience using social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok or X, with an understanding of scheduling content, engagement, and basic analytics. Confidence using a smartphone or camera to capture photos and videos.

Communication & Interpersonal Skills:

Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally with gyms, local businesses, partners, and young people. Ability to represent Weapons Down Gloves Up positively in community settings
