Registered Manager – Children’s Residential Home

Speke, Liverpool

Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 per year (depending on experience)

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Registered Manager to lead our Ofsted-regulated children's home in Speke, Liverpool. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a dedicated team and ensure that the home provides a safe, nurturing, and high-quality environment for children and young people.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the home, staff leadership, safeguarding, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements while promoting positive outcomes for children in our care.

Key Responsibilities1. Leadership & Management

* Lead and manage the children’s home in line with Ofsted regulations and Quality Standards.

* Ensure the home operates within Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and delivers high-quality care.

* Provide inspirational leadership to staff, fostering a culture of openness, respect, and continuous improvement.

* Monitor performance, set objectives, and support the professional development of the staff team.

2. Safeguarding & Child Welfare

* Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), ensuring children are protected from harm and abuse.

* Maintain a child-centred approach that promotes the emotional, physical, and psychological well-being of children.

* Implement effective risk assessments and care planning procedures.

* Ensure safeguarding concerns, incidents, and allegations are reported and managed appropriately.

3. Compliance & Ofsted Regulations

* Ensure full compliance with Ofsted requirements, Children’s Homes Regulations, and Quality Standards.

* Prepare for and lead inspections, working to achieve Good or Outstanding outcomes.

* Maintain detailed records, reports, and policies in line with legal and regulatory frameworks.

4. Staff Recruitment, Training & Development

* Recruit, train, and develop a skilled team of support workers and senior care staff.

* Conduct regular supervisions, appraisals, and team meetings.

* Promote a culture of learning and development, ensuring staff receive mandatory and specialist training.

5. Financial & Resource Management

* Manage the home’s budget, ensuring resources are used efficiently.

* Ensure effective maintenance of the home, providing a safe and comfortable living environment.

6. Multi-Agency Working & Communication

* Build strong relationships with social workers, local authorities, health professionals, and other stakeholders.

* Attend care reviews, strategy meetings, and multi-agency forums to advocate for children.

* Ensure children’s voices are heard and they are involved in decisions about their care.

Essential Criteria

* Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).

* Minimum 2 years’ experience in a children’s residential care setting within the last 5 years.

* At least 1 year of management experience in a children’s home.

* Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations and Children’s Homes Regulations 2015.

* Experience in safeguarding, child protection, and risk management.

* Proven ability to lead and manage a team effectively.

* Excellent communication, organisational, and decision-making skills.

* Ability to work under pressure and manage challenging situations.

* Enhanced DBS check.
