Veterinary Surgeon – Small Animal Practice
Location: Liverpool, UK
Salary: Competitive, based on experience
Job Type: Full-time (3–4 days per week, including a 1 in 4 weekend rotation)
About the Role
GVC is assisting an independent, purpose-built small animal clinic in Liverpool looking for a dedicated, customer-focused Veterinary Surgeon with a minimum of 3 years’ experience.
This is a key role within a supportive team, delivering excellent clinical care while ensuring outstanding client service.
We’re ideally seeking a vet with an interest in medicine and imaging , although applications from vets with broad general practice experience are also welcome.
You’ll manage preventive care, treat sick and injured pets, and promote pet wellbeing. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across clinical and non-clinical teams are essential.
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum of 3 years’ veterinary experience
- Interest or experience in medicine and imaging (preferred)
- Confident in general practice duties and preventive care
- Excellent communicator and team player
- Passionate about pet wellbeing and client care

About the Clinic

- Dedicated imaging room and dental suite
- Cat, dog, and small furry wards

Equipment Available:
- Biochemistry, haematology, urinalysis, microscopy
- X-ray, dental x-ray, ultrasound
- Orthopaedic equipment, tonopen
Team Structure:
6 Vets, 8 RVNs
Expected Shift Times:
- 8:00–17:00, 9:00–18:00, 10:00–19:00, 8:00–19:00
- Set day off each week
- Consult lengths: 15 minutes for sick pets, 10 minutes for vaccines
Clinic Opening Hours:
- Monday–Friday: 08:00–19:00
- Saturday: 09:00–15:00
- Sunday: 09:00–15:00
