Assistant Quantity Surveyor - Groundworks

Your new role:
Our client is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor with a background or strong interest in groundworks and residential infrastructure to join their commercial team. This role will support Senior Quantity Surveyors in managing the financial aspects of multiple housing developments, offering hands-on exposure and a clear pathway for progression.
Responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the commercial management of groundworks and housing infrastructure projects
- Supporting the preparation of interim valuations, variations, and final accounts
- Assisting with subcontractor procurement, administration, and payment processes
- Monitoring project costs and supporting with budget tracking and reporting
- Helping to identify commercial risks and opportunities on live projects
- Liaising with site teams, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure smooth communication
- Assisting in the preparation of cost reports and documentation for senior management
- Supporting tendering and pre-construction activities where required
- Maintaining accurate records of project costs and commercial data
What you will need to succeed:
- Previous experience in a Quantity Surveying role or a relevant placement within groundworks or civil engineering
- Strong interest in residential housing developments and infrastructure works
- Good numerical and analytical skills with strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and willingness to learn new systems
- Ability to work as part of a team and manage workload effectively
- Full UK driving licence (preferred)
- Studying towards or qualified with an HNC/HND or degree in Quantity Surveying or similar
