The Programme Intern will support the Programme and Learning teams at Liverpool Biennial on the planning of the 2027 Biennial festival, with particular focus on administrative support throughout this exciting research phase. They will work flexiblyacross multiple different creative projects to support artist research trips, welcoming artists from across the globe to Liverpool,as well as the delivery of a public artwork with an associated programme events.
Liverpool Biennialʼs Programme Intern has been designed to offer a paid to somebody who is at an early stage in theircareer in the arts, and who would like to gain varied experience and knowledge across a range of different tasks and projects. Duties and responsibilities
Main Duties of the Curatorial Intern will include:
Events β buying materials, running, stewarding, artist liaison, per diems
Assisting curator artist research β biographies
Researching and booking travel and accommodation for visiting artists
Venue reconnaissance
Minutes for meetings
Project management administration, ensuring all info up to date
Customer Relationship Management
· Support the planning international artist visits including researching and gathering information on archives, contacts and
interests, scheduling, booking travel and accommodation, and welcoming them to the city / accompanying them on visits.

galleries to disused warehouses and buildings
· Provide administration and production support for public programme and learning events and projects. This will include
researching, scheduling, artist and venue liaison, βon the day ʼ facilitation (such as registration, ushering, stage management),
and any other administrative tasks including shadowing on risk assessments, health and safety considerations and event
management
· Support on our Learning Programme outputs, which may include helping with the creation and distribution of digital and
printed resources and activity packs, supporting on the delivery of in-person and online workshops and events with schools
and community groups
· Build and maintain data on local and national audiences and stakeholders, including community groups and organisations, to
ensure we are maximising our reach and engagement, and to develop better communication and relationships with these
groups moving forward
· When applicable, booking accommodation and travel for artists, collaborators and press, and assist with visits
· Understand, uphold and prioritise Liverpool Biennial values, policies and reporting responsibilities including Safeguarding,
Environmental Sustainability and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, attending training where appropriate
· Other administration and production support where needed across the Programme and Learning team.
Skills and experience
Essential:
· An interest in contemporary visual art
· Demonstrable experience of team working
· Good organising and planning skills
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Good time management skills
· Good admin/IT skills, including Microsoft Office programs
· Able to demonstrate reliability and punctuality
· Commitment to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
· Commitment to Environmental sustainability and responsibility
Desirable:
· Demonstrable experience of working on, managing or delivering events or exhibitions (This could be your own projects, or
projects within a workplace or education setting)
· Experience of working in the arts/heritage/visitor attraction/tourism sectors. This can include voluntary work or education
placements.
· Experience of working with people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
Experience of working with children and young people
· A Knowledge of the Liverpool creative community.
